BA carrying emergency supplies to east Africa by Cheap Flights Booker UK
British Airways is doing its bit to help victims of the famine in east Africa by sending an aircraft full of emergency supplies and equipment to Ethiopia.
Severe droughts have led to the world"s worst food crisis for 20 years, with more than half a million people directly at risk of starvation in Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya.
BA is sending a Boeing 747 freighter to the region today (12 August), transporting aid from the charities Oxfam and Unicef.
The cargo includes 5,000 metres of piping that will be used to provide water to the Dolo Ado refugee camp in Ethiopia and emergency food and supplies.
Passengers can also do their bit this month by making donations onboard BA flights, which will go the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal for east Africa.
Keith Williams, the airline"s chief executive officer, said: "The worst drought in 50 years means the lives of millions of people hang in the balance.
"The generosity of our customers will make a real and tangible difference to those in desperate need."
