"Planning is in some ways more straightforward: this can be four roughly month-long stays, with a week here and there, to give you the chance to see a few more places."

The Lonely Planet spokesman recommended a number of itineraries that travellers could follow, such as seeing Beijing, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore before heading on to Australia or New Zealand.
