Travellers Can Cut Cost Of Package Breaks By Avoiding Extras
Travellers "can cut cost of package breaks by avoiding extras" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Travellers hoping to save money by booking an all inclusive holiday could find themselves going over budget if they buy additional items and services, according to Post Office Travel Money.
The company carried out a survey of people who had taken breaks of this kind and found that four out of five paid for things they expected to be covered by their package deal.
Looking at 54 hotels in 24 destinations, Post Office Travel Money found that 65% charged extra or put restrictions on a la carte restaurants.
Other extras that visitors could be charged for include internet access and drinks such as cocktails and wine.
Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Money, said holidaymakers should bring some foreign currency with them if they are planning to treat themselves to a few extras.
However, she also stressed that travellers can stick to their budgets if they are careful and aware of what is covered in their package deal.
"Although it is perfectly possible to stick to all inclusive deals, our research found that in practice only one in five holidaymakers actually spent nothing extra on their trip," said Ms Munro.
"The best advice is to check the small print carefully before booking to see what is included and make sure you carry enough foreign cash to pay for extras."
