Virgin Adds Emotional Health Warnings To Weepy Movies
Virgin adds "emotional health warnings" to weepy movies by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Virgin Atlantic is adding "emotional health warnings" to inflight movies that have the potential to bring a tear to passengers" eyes.
Warning signs will flash up before the start of possible tearjerkers, telling viewers to have their tissues ready and press the call button if they need a shoulder to cry on.
Water for Elephants, a romantic drama starring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon, will be one of the first films to carry the note of advice.
In a recent survey by Virgin Atlantic, 55% of respondents agreed that their emotions were heightened during flights.
Men regularly hide under blankets to conceal their tears, according to the study, while women are more likely to pretend they have something in their eye.
Psychologist Corinne Sweet said: "It is not surprising that high flyers feel emotional at altitude as their defences are lower than usual, as they put themselves in someone else"s safe hands.
"The space created by long-haul flying can allow for deep-seated feelings to surface, especially when triggered by tear-jerking films. Heightened feelings in the rarefied atmosphere of an aircraft should be welcomed, not feared."
Virgin Atlantic passengers surveyed on Facebook named Toy Story 3 their top weepy movie, followed by The Blind Side, Eat Pray Love, My Sister"s Keeper and Seven Pounds.
