Brazil Targeting UK Tourists
Brazil targeting UK tourists by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Brazil is hoping to attract more travellers from the UK over the coming years, the national tourist board has revealed.
Marco Lomanto, director of products and destinations for Embratur, said that the major sporting events set to take place in the South American country will play an important part in the achievement of this goal.
The Fifa World Cup will be held in Brazil in 2014, while Rio de Janeiro will provide the setting for the Olympics two years later.
"The UK is one of our priorities now in Europe and with the World Cup and the Olympic Games, we are [targeting] an increase in tourism in Brazil and I hope we will be able to receive a lot of British tourists," said Mr Lomanto.
"Now we have about 170,000 British people travelling to Brazil every year and we intend to increase [this number by] 20% for the World Cup."
The Embratur spokesman also highlighted the economic benefits of the forthcoming events, with more than 300,000 permanent jobs set to be created and billions of pounds of revenue being generated for the tourism sector.
During the World Cup, matches will be played in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Fortaleza, among other cities.
