Half Of Britons Would Pay More For Responsible Holidays
Half of Britons "would pay more for responsible holidays" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Half of Britons would be willing to pay extra to make their holidays "responsible", according to a recent study.
Travel Weekly commissioned a poll by consumer research firm TNS which found that 58% of people have concerns about issues related to sustainability.
Just over one in ten holidaymakers said pollution from flights, coaches or cruise ships were a source of worry for them, while a similar proportion said they were concerned about wasteful use of water or energy.
Almost one in four (23%) people said poverty in tourist destinations is the issue that troubles them most.
The survey also found that nearly half (44%) of travellers think that governments should take on the task of making holidays more sustainable, while 35% think the responsibility lies with the industry.
Tom Costley, head of travel and tourism for TNS, said: "There is little doubt primary responsibility for ensuring investment towards improving the sustainability of destinations will have to come from governments and possibly the industry."
