Offering some examples, Ms Chipchase pointed out that the site of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games will roar into life in December when it welcomes the V8 Supercar racing series.

The tourism industry spokeswoman also recommended spending New Year"s Eve in the state capital, with "the world"s most spectacular fireworks display" set to light up landmarks such as Sydney Harbour Bridge.
