Qantas to trial "latest inflight entertainment technology" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Qantas is preparing to launch a trial of what it describes as "the very latest technology in inflight entertainment".
The Q Streaming product will allow passengers to stream content to individual tablets supplied by the airline during flights.
It will also provide a facility for customers to access inflight entertainment on laptops, smartphones, tablets and other internet-enabled devices.
An initial six-week trial of the new service will take place onboard a Boeing 767-300 aircraft from the end of October to early December this year.
Qantas will then assess the results and decide whether to expand the technology across its domestic and international fleet.
Alison Webster, the airline"s executive manager of customer experience, said: "We are very pleased to be the first airline in the world to trial this wireless streaming product."
The company has also announced plans to install Airbus A380-style inflight entertainment units and seats on nine Boeing 747-400 planes.
