AITO: Travellers looking for more than relaxation by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Modern travellers are increasingly searching for holidays that offer more than simple rest and relaxation, according to the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO).

Oliver Broad, chairman of AITO Agents, highlighted this trend as a factor that could boost the popularity of regions like Indochina - which encompasses countries such as Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand in south-east Asia - and South America.

He noted that both of these areas have already experienced growth this year, along with the Italian island of Sicily.

"Indochina and South America are … on the up and so I expect these to be popular in 2012 as travellers look to get much more from their holiday than just relaxation," said Mr Broad.

The AITO spokesman also predicted that more traditional destinations such as Madeira, Malta, Spain and Portugal could prove popular among older travellers who are keen to rediscover a country or region that has undergone significant changes since their last visit.
