BAA"s Scottish airports enjoy strong month in September by Cheap Flights Booker UK
BAA"s Scottish airports experienced a strong month in September and maintained the "solid performance" shown in the summer, the operator has announced.
Edinburgh airport saw its busiest September on record with a 3% increase in passengers compared to the same period in 2010.
Traffic grew by 3.2% at Glasgow, while Aberdeen continued a recent run of positive results with an 11.3% rise in traveller numbers, partly thanks to an oil industry conference in the city.
At other BAA airports, Southampton experienced its third consecutive month of increasing passenger figures with a 0.7% jump, while Heathrow achieved a record September for customers, aircraft movements and the number of seats filled per plane.
The North Atlantic market continued to show the fastest growth at the London hub, with a 3.5% year-on-year rise in the number of people catching flights to the region.
BAA chief executive Colin Matthews welcomed the positive figures but stressed the importance of addressing capacity constraints in the UK, which are making it difficult for airports such as Heathrow to compete with European hubs like Frankfurt and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
