BAs Gatwick Operation Leading The Way In New Technology
BA"s Gatwick operation "leading the way in new technology" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
British Airways (BA) has claimed that its operation at London Gatwick is "leading the way" in the introduction of new technology in the aviation industry.
The airline has been focusing on giving its customers more independence and allowing them to personally carry out tasks such as checking in, selecting their seats and printing out bag tags.
It is also using technology to improve the efficiency of the inflight experience, with cabin crew currently taking part in a trial that allows them to access customer information and preferences on iPads.
The handheld devices are set to be extended to ground staff, with Gatwick serving as the launch airport for the initiative.
Glenn Morgan, BA"s head of service transformation, said: "Where we have specifically invested in and designed systems for Gatwick, the innovative technology could be used throughout British Airways in the future to provide customers with a hassle-free experience."
The airline recently received an award from the International Air Transport Association in recognition of its use of automated and self-service facilities to simplify the travel experience for customers.
