Bulgaria recommended for cheap ski holidays by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Brits searching for cheap ski holidays have been encouraged to consider a trip to Bulgaria, which emerged as the most affordable of ten winter sports destinations surveyed by Post Office Travel Money.

After researching ski prices and the cost of basic commodities, the organisation ranked Andorra and Slovenia as the second and third cheapest countries respectively, followed by Spain and Italy.

Prices have reportedly fallen by more than 5% in both Bansko in Bulgaria and Arinsal in Andorra, while the Italian resort of Livigno is 3.4% cheaper than last year.

Those hoping to stick to a budget might want to avoid Switzerland, which is a pricier proposition this winter following the pound"s recent slump against the Swiss franc.

Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Money, predicted that resort costs will be a "key factor" in destination choices for skiers and snowboarders taking a holiday during the 2011-12 winter season.

She added: "Skiers on a budget have great value resorts to choose from if they head east to Bulgaria and Slovenia or west to Andorra."

Ms Munro also noted that Italy is "looking good" for holidaymakers who would prefer to visit one of the "long-established favourites" for winter sports.
