Early summer "best time to visit Provence" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Early summer is the best time of year to take holidays in Provence if travellers want to beat the crowds but still enjoy good weather, according to a local tourist agency.

Nina Nagel, a spokeswoman for the Mougins Tourism Office, pointed out that July and August are the busiest months of the year and are best avoided if visitors want a relaxing getaway.

"I always recommend June, which is quite nice, or any time from May to June," she added.

"All year round it"s nice, but if you want to enjoy [Provence] with sun you have to avoid winter."

Commenting on some of the attractions and experiences on offer to people visiting this part of southern France, Ms Nagel highlighted activities such as cycling in the protected woodland area in Mougins or heading out into the countryside to try canyoning, climbing and watersports.

Mougins, which is situated near Cannes in the Alpes-Maritimes area, also provides easy access to the picturesque French Riviera and boasts attractions such as the recently opened Museum of Classical Art.
