Emirates is sponsoring a new cable car system being built across the Thames river in London.
The AED204m (£35.7m) agreement - which is the airline"s biggest UK sponsorship deal since its tie-up with Premier League football club Arsenal - was announced by Emirates president Tim Clark and London mayor Boris Johnson on the banks of the Thames on Saturday (8 October).
Scheduled for completion in summer 2012, the cable car will run between Greenwich Peninsula and Royal Victoria Docks and will be known as the Emirates Air Line.
Passengers will be able to take in views of the capital as they travel between the line"s two stations, which will be added to the London Underground public transport map.
Mr Clark said: "As one of the world"s most innovative airlines, the link with this new form of air travel in London is a perfect fit for us. The Emirates Air Line will take off as an iconic landmark for London."
The multi-million pound deal was described by Mr Johnson as "tremendous news for London".
He added: "The Emirates Air Line will be an exciting and innovative mode of transport, easing travel for thousands and offering spectacular bird"s eye vistas of our majestic Thames."
