Etihad named airline of the year in TTG Travel Awards by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Etihad Airways was named airline of the year in the TTG Travel Awards ceremony for 2011, while Oman Air was commended.
Presented by industry publication Travel Trade Gazette (TTG), the awards are handed out on the basis of a judging process that includes ratings from agents and panels of representatives from the sector.
Also among the winners was East Midlands airport, which picked up the airport of the year title ahead of Bristol, which received a commendation.
Sea World Parks and Entertainment was recognised for the quality of its parks and attractions in the US, while Tourism Queensland was voted the leading tourist board.
Queensland also won the top award in the section covering trade campaigns for its Q Factor promotions.
Commenting on this year"s programme, TTG editor Daniel Pearce said that award winners must have qualities that make other companies "sit up and take notice".
"We believe our winners, who have each taken the top prize after only the most rigorous of judging processes … have done exactly that," he added.
