The 2011-12 winter season is now officially underway in Austria"s Tyrol region, with fresh snowfall over the weekend improving conditions at a number of resorts and ski areas.
Some 70cm of new snow on the Kaunertal glacier means the powder now stands at an overall height of up to 110cm.
Visitors can already access runs covering 4.5km via three lifts.
The Hintertux glacier welcomed 60cm of new snow over the weekend and has opened 35km of piste, while nine lifts and nine slopes are already in operation on the Stubai glacier.
Solden and Obergurgl are both due to open soon after receiving fresh powder in the past few days, the Tyrol Tourist Board revealed, while Ischgl will get its winter season underway on 26 November with a concert by Swedish pop duo Roxette.
The Austrian Tyrol will provide the setting for a series of major events over the coming months, including the first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck and Seefeld in January next year.
Mayrhofen will play host to the likes of Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle and Al Murray for the Altitude Comedy Festival, which will run from 26 to 31 March 2012.
