Travellers planning a trip to the Far East next year will be able to reach a new destination in China with Air France.
The carrier has announced that it will introduce a scheduled service from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Wuhan Tianhe airport on 11 April 2012.
Wuhan is located in central China, equidistant from Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and serves as a hub for air, railway and ferry transport.
Air France is the first airline to introduce a direct service from Europe to the city.
Bruno Matheu, executive vice president of marketing and network operations for Air France KLM, said the new route will strengthen the group"s position in a fast-growing market.
He added: "Air France KLM"s growth in China has become one of our group"s strategic assets. It makes our global network and our service offer even more attractive."
During the winter 2011-12 season, the airline partnership will operate about 80 flights per week to eight destinations in Greater China, including Hong Kong, Chengdu and Taipei.
