Nominees announced for British Youth Travel Awards by Cheap Flights Booker UK

The organisers of the British Youth Travel Awards have unveiled the nominees for this year"s event, with Australia and Germany on the shortlist for the title of best international youth destination.

Sacramento, the capital of the US state of California, will compete with the two nations for the accolade.

Klaus Lohmann, UK and Ireland director of the German National Tourist Office, said the country was "delighted" to receive the nomination.

He added: "It"s been one of our goals to engage with a younger audience and communicate Germany"s diversity, which has great appeal to young people."

The British Youth Travel Awards programme also includes a category covering the best leisure products for this market, with the Tower of London and the English Bus among those shortlisted this year.

There will also be recognition for the best youth destination in the UK, which will be announced along with the other winners at a ceremony on 8 December.
