Qantas hosts Dreamliner in Sydney by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Qantas has officially welcomed the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Sydney on the new aircraft"s first visit to Australia.

The occasion also provided an opportunity for the carrier to celebrate its 91st birthday.

Qantas is one of the leading customers for the 787, with a total of 50 of the new planes on firm order, 35 of which will be used to support the operator"s international growth.

The airline"s low-cost subsidiary Jetstar will take delivery of the first aircraft in mid-2013.

Alan Joyce, Qantas" chief executive officer, described the Dreamliner as a "game-changer" that represents the next generation in aviation technology.

He added: "It offers greater fuel-efficiency, lower operating costs and a better customer experience than current aircraft of similar size.

"It has the flexibility to serve both the low-fare and premium markets."

Boeing has also received orders for the 787 from major international carriers such as Qatar Airways, Virgin Atlantic, United Airlines and British Airways.
