Twilight Fans Flocking To Americas Pacific Northwest
Twilight fans flocking to America"s Pacific Northwest by Cheap Flights Booker UK
America"s Pacific Northwest region and the state of Washington are proving highly popular among fans of the Twilight series of books and films.
Marking the release of Breaking Dawn Part 1, the penultimate movie in the series, local tourism agencies revealed that travellers are "flocking" to locations such as the small town of Forks and the Olympic Peninsula.
Visitors can embark on specialist tours to locations such as the Hoh rainforest and the towns of Port Angeles and La Push, which are associated with some of the Native American tribes that feature in the novels.
Illustrating the impact that the Twilight books and films have had on the local tourism industry, Diane Schostak, director of the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau, pointed out that Forks was seeing widespread store closures and only welcoming about 10,000 visitors a year in 2006.
"In 2010, Forks had nearly 70,000 guests signing the book," she added. "Forks and the Olympic Peninsula have become the destination of choice for families with a Twilight fan or two."
Holidaymakers can pick up tour maps highlighting "must-see" locations and visit shops selling a range of merchandise and souvenirs associated with the franchise.
