Unesco World Heritage app gets more than 13,000 downloads by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Unesco has announced that its World Heritage application for the iPhone and iPad was downloaded more than 13,000 times on a single day earlier this month.

The organisation made the app available for free for one day only to launch the 40th anniversary celebrations of the World Heritage convention.

A total of 13,343 downloads were recorded, with consumers in France, the US and China showing the most interest.

Unesco also announced that an updated version of the application has been launched to include details of the 25 locations added to the World Heritage list in 2011.

Users can also make the most of enhancements including a function allowing searches by region and the option of sharing information about each site via Facebook, Twitter and email.

The Unesco World Heritage list includes some of the world"s most popular travel destinations and recognisable landmarks, from the Statue of Liberty in New York to the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
