Etihad to become world"s largest Dreamliner operator by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Etihad Airways has placed an order for ten more Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners that will make it the world"s largest operator of the aircraft.
The airline has also ordered another two Boeing 777 freight planes in a deal worth $2.8bn (£1.8bn) at current list prices.
Etihad will take delivery of 41 787s between late 2014 and 2019, with options and purchase rights on 25 more.
Providing capacity for up to 300 passengers and boasting a range of 14,800km, the 787-9 will initially be used on flights to Dublin, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing, Nagoya and other destinations from the carrier"s hub in Abu Dhabi.
Chief executive officer James Hogan said the new order is part of Etihad Airways" commitment to operating a young and fuel-efficient fleet.
"It also reflects our confidence in the 787"s ability to have a significant impact on our operating efficiencies and the passenger experience we can offer onboard this revolutionary aircraft," he added.
