Marriott International has boosted the range of options available to people looking for hotels in Shanghai with the opening of its 18th and largest property in the Chinese city.

The 720-room Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Centre has been earmarked as a flagship establishment for the brand in China.

Situated on Xizang Middle Road, overlooking People"s Square, the 39-storey building provides access to popular tourist attractions and locations such as Nanjing Road and the Bund, which boast an array of cultural, entertainment and shopping venues.

All of the hotel"s rooms feature high-tech amenities including 42-inch LCD televisions, laptop connectivity, wireless internet access and iPod docking stations, as well as luxury bedding and marble bathrooms.

Guests can sample the cuisine on offer at five restaurants, such as Inagiku, which specialises in Japanese food, and Man Ho, which serves authentic Cantonese and local dishes.
