Namibia Has A Competitive Edge In African Tourism

Namibia "has a competitive edge" in African tourism by Cheap Flights Booker UK

The Namibia Tourism Board has said it is confident that the country has the potential to compete with some of the more established and famous travel destinations in Africa, such as Kenya and South Africa.

Ndapona Schleberger, the agency"s international operations and marketing manager, said the country is completely unique and has a "competitive edge".

She highlighted factors such as the relatively low population of about 2m people, which means there are plenty of open spaces and picturesque, uninhabited areas for holidaymakers to explore.

"You can imagine how unspoiled the landscape and country is," said Ms Schleberger.

"We see ourselves as competing against those big giants and we are doing very well for such a small country."

Namibian tourism has enjoyed a strong year in 2011 and the nation is planning to open up new visitor markets next year.

Travellers planning to visit the destination for a safari holiday or to take in the sights of areas such as Fish River Canyon Park can catch flights to Windhoek, the capital city, with Air Namibia, Swiss, Lufthansa and British Airways, among other carriers.
