Travellers Invited To See Winter Spectacles In Scotland
Travellers invited to see winter spectacles in Scotland by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Scotland"s national tourism agency has encouraged travellers to pay a visit to the country over the coming months to take in some of its unique winter spectacles.
There will be an array of memorable sights on offer during Up Helly Aa, Europe"s largest fire festival, which is held on the last Tuesday in January in Lerwick, the capital of the Shetland Islands.
A series of marches take place during the day, culminating in a torchlight procession and gallery burning ceremony.
Another festival to look forward to is Snowdrops by Starlight, which will come to Cambo Estate in Fife from 11 to 19 February 2012.
In the evening, light and sound are used to transform the estate"s collection of 300 species of snowdrop flowers into an "enchanted starlit wonderland", according to VisitScotland.
The tourism agency also encouraged visitors to look to the skies to see the Quadrantids meteor shower, which will be visible from Dumfries and Galloway"s Dark Sky Park on 3 and 4 January 2012.
It is even possible to occasionally see the Northern Lights in regions such as Aberdeenshire, the Northern Higlands and Orkney during the Scottish winter.
