Air New Zealand wins airline industry "Oscar" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Air New Zealand has been confirmed as Air Transport World"s (ATW) Airline of the Year for the second time in three years.

The company"s success makes it the first carrier in the nearly 40-year history of the awards to receive the accolade twice in a three-year period.

ATW judges said Air New Zealand"s innovation and the motivation of its staff were among the factors that led to it being named the best airline in the world over the past 12 months.

The operator was also recognised for its environmental initiatives, including the use of a young and fuel efficient fleet, and progressive attitudes in areas such as product development and social media.

Chief executive officer Rob Fyfe, who will travel to Singapore next month to collect the award, said receiving the title in 2010 was one of the greatest honours ever bestowed on the airline.

"In our industry it"s equivalent to winning an Oscar," he added.

"To pick up the award again this year is simply outstanding."
