Brits Set To Return To European Hotspots
Brits "set to return to European hotspots" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The coming year could see a major resurgence in the popularity of traditional European holiday destinations for British consumers, according to Post Office Travel Money.
Citing tight budgets and an improving sterling exchange rate against European currencies, the organisation predicted that countries such as Spain and Portugal will be among the leading options for Britons in 2012.
In a survey based on a selection of tourist items in destinations all over the world, Spain"s Costa del Sol, Prague in the Czech Republic, the Bulgarian resort of Sunny Beach, the Hungarian capital of Budapest and Lagos in Portugal were all ranked among the ten most affordable locations.
Sri Lanka topped the list overall and was among the best-value countries for long-haul travellers, along with Mexico and Thailand.
Commenting on potential trends in the tourism industry for 2012, Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Money, said resorts in Turkey will face stiff competition from Spain and Portugal, possibly resulting in bargains for holidaymakers.
"With Greek tourism also facing a fight for survival, we could see a price war between the eastern and western Med in 2012," she added.
