Walt Disney World voted world"s best theme park by Cheap Flights Booker UK

People planning family holidays in Florida this year might be interested to hear that the Walt Disney World Resort was named the best theme park worldwide at the Globe Travel Awards 2012.

Organised by trade publication Travel Weekly, the awards programme is unusual in that it is entirely based on votes from the industry.

Other winners at the 2012 ceremony, which took place at the Grosvenor House hotel in London earlier this month, included Tourism Australia, which was named the best tourist board (UK office).

In the transport category, Emirates took the title of best long-haul airline and Manchester topped the section covering UK airports.

Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises were singled out as the leading mainstream and premium cruise lines respectively, while Silversea was recognised as the best luxury operator.

The Globe Travel Awards 2012 also included a consumer section, which saw British Airways voted the favourite airline, P&O Cruises the top cruise company and Hilton the most popular hotel chain.
