BA-Japan Airlines deal set to benefit travellers by Cheap Flights Booker UK
British Airways (BA) and Japan Airlines have announced details of a planned joint business agreement that is expected to provide benefits for passengers.
The carriers said the deal - which relates to flights between Europe and Japan - will result in better links between the two regions, a wider choice of services, enhanced frequent flyer benefits and more potential to launch new routes.
Japan Airlines has submitted an application to begin the partnership to its local transport and tourism ministry, while International Airlines Group, BA"s holding company, is in contact with the European Union.
Masaru Onishi, current president and chairman-elect of the Asian carrier, said the company is looking forward to the potential customer benefits of the venture.
IAG chief executive Willie Walsh added: "British Airways has a long history of flying to Japan and linking the world"s third largest economy to the UK and Europe.
"We have very close links with Japan Airlines and look forward to enhancing that relationship further."
Both companies are part of the oneworld alliance, which also counts the likes of American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Iberia and Qantas among its members.
