Oman cruise industry "booming" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The cruise industry is "booming" in Oman and making an increasingly important contribution to the Middle Eastern state"s growing travel industry, according to the national tourism ministry.
Some 40% more ships are set to visit the sultanate this year, partly thanks to the opening of a new terminal at the Mina Sultan Qaboos port in Muscat.
Sea voyages give travellers the opportunity to combine Oman"s coastal regions with its large cities and try various activities, including dolphin watching and sailing.
A number of companies operate itineraries featuring ports of call in the country, including MSC Cruises, which sails to the city of Khasab on the Musandam peninsula, an area known as the "Norway of Arabia" owing to the fjords along its scenic coastline.
Oman"s tourism ministry highlighted several other factors and attractions that have made the country a more popular holiday destination in recent years, including the "vibrant" capital of Muscat, which is home to sites such as the Muttrah Souq and Corniche and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
