People planning ski holidays in the Val d"Isere resort in southern France have been encouraged to make time to sample the food on offer in the destination.

According to the local tourist board, the winter sports hotspot is full of "fantastic eateries" serving "world-class, Michelin star-standard cuisine".

The agency recommended establishments such as L"Atelier d"Edmond, which is situated at the bottom of the Fornet-Pissaillas run, 2km from the centre of Val d"Isere village.

French chef Jacques Pourcel, whose establishment Le Jardin des Sens in Montpellier boasts two Michelin stars, will be offering brasserie cuisine at lunchtime and a gourmet evening menu at Le Brussels this winter.
