Atlanta"s new international terminal nears completion by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Atlanta in the southern United States will soon cement its position as a "gateway to the world" with the opening of a new international terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson airport, according to the city"s convention and visitors bureau.

Due to open in late spring, the Maynard H Jackson terminal will provide 12 additional gates exclusively for international services.

It will also simplify the arrivals process for foreign travellers catching flights to Atlanta by removing the need for passengers to recheck their luggage after clearing customs.

William Pate, president and chief executive of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, said getting to the city is already easy, seeing as it is home to the industry"s second largest airline, Delta, and the world"s busiest airport.

He added: "The Maynard H Jackson International Terminal will take advantage of Atlanta"s geographical advantages to capture additional international visitation."

Hartsfield Jackson airport provides direct connections to hundreds of destinations in Europe, Central America and South America, including London, Cancun and Buenos Aires.
