Brits To Spend More On Holidays This Year
Brits "to spend more on holidays this year" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Despite ongoing financial challenges and problems for the UK economy, British consumers are set to spend more on holidays in 2012, according to new research.
A survey by Visa Europe found that the average Brit will pay out some £3,890 for overseas trips during the coming year.
This marks an increase of £300 on the figure recorded in 2011, when UK travellers spent some £12.4bn on foreign breaks.
Hotels and other forms of accommodation are expected to account for the majority of holiday spending, followed by flights and travel to and from the destination.
The research also used expenditure to gauge the most popular countries for British consumers, with Spain topping the list after attracting £1.8bn of spending last year, followed by France (£1.5bn) and the United States (£1bn).
Some respondents to the poll said they will be going away in September this year so they can enjoy the Queen"s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the Olympic Games at the start of the summer.
