Monarch unveils huge artwork to celebrate new flights to Italy by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Monarch Airlines this week surprised passengers at London Gatwick by unveiling a 3D artwork covering some 1,000 square feet of the runway to celebrate the launch of eight new routes to Italy from the UK.
The image featured Roman gladiators, Veronese opera singers and Venetian gondolas.
It was designed to promote new Monarch flights to Rome, Venice, Verona and Milan from four bases in the UK - Gatwick, Luton, Birmingham and Manchester.
The airline is boosting access to Italy as part of a strategy announced in June 2011 to expand its range of scheduled services to popular leisure destinations across Europe.
Managing director Kevin George said the company was happy to bring a little bit of Italy to London Gatwick for passengers to enjoy.
He added: "Monarch Airlines is now firmly focused on expanding its scheduled network and we are delighted to be adding the new Italian routes to our extensive range of leisure destinations across Europe."
The carrier also operates flights to Spain, Turkey, Greece and other popular holiday countries on the continent.
