New Heathrow Terminal To Transform Passenger Experience
New Heathrow terminal "to transform passenger experience" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Passengers at London Heathrow can look forward to an improved travel experience when the airport"s redeveloped second terminal opens in 2014, operating company BAA has claimed.
Set to welcome some 20m people every year, the new building recently passed a significant construction milestone with a "topping out" ceremony to celebrate the end of major structural work.
The project is part of a five-year, £4.8bn investment programme at Heathrow that began in 2008, shortly after the opening of Terminal 5.
Colin Matthews, chief executive of BAA, said: "The completion of structural work on Terminal 2 puts us within touching distance of a future where Heathrow has some of the best passenger facilities in Europe."
He went on to say that, while there is still a lot of work to do, the renovation could put Heathrow in "pole position" among European hub airports and make it more capable of competing with "elite" Asian bases such as Singapore Changi, Hong Kong and Seoul Incheon.
