Algeria To Boost Tourism Investment

Algeria to boost tourism investment by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Increased levels of investment in the Algerian tourism industry are expected to boost the number of people taking holidays in the north African country, its tourism minister has claimed.

Neighbouring countries Tunisia and Morocco are notable for their thriving hospitality sector, something Algeria plans to emulate over the coming years.

It hopes to attract 3.5m visitors annually by 2015 in a bid to reduce its reliance on oil and gas as a source of income, Reuters reports.

The country hopes it will be able to reinvent itself as a global tourism destination thanks to its impressive scenery, with a long Mediterranean coastline and picturesque mountains cited as potential draws for holidaymakers.

Tourism minister Smail Mimoune told the news provider the Algerian government is "aiming to raise the accommodation capacity from 90,000 beds to 160,000 beds in three years".

British holidaymakers hoping to visit the country in the near future will be able to take advantage of new British Airways flights to Algiers from London Gatwick to be launched this summer.
