Heathrow installs giant globes in all terminals by Cheap Flights Booker UK

London Heathrow has installed giant globes in all of its terminals to help younger passengers learn more about the world.

The initiative was launched after a survey found that the average British child has been abroad five times by the age of ten, yet some 12% are unable to identify the UK on a world map.

Some 45% of youngsters could not locate Spain on a map, while 36% were unable to find France.

In an attempt to improve geographical awareness and knowledge among children, Heathrow airport has installed several globes - including one in the Terminal 5 departures area that measures ten feet in diameter - and has also been handing out maps to young travellers.

John Holland-Kaye, the London hub"s commercial director, said: "We hope our world globes will create a fun talking point amongst our younger passengers and help bring Heathrow"s over 180 destinations to life."

The research found that the United States is the third most visited destination among children aged six to ten years after Spain and France, with 19% having taken a holiday to America.
