Iata Urges UK Govt To Recognise Importance Of Aviation
Iata urges UK govt to recognise importance of aviation by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The International Air Transport Association (Iata) has encouraged the UK government to develop new policies for aviation that recognise the importance of the industry.
Specifically, the organisation called for action on the issues of high taxes and severe capacity constraints at airports such as London Heathrow.
Tony Tyler, Iata"s director general and chief executive officer, pointed out that the UK is the world"s second largest market for international air travel and has grown into a global financial centre and cultural hub with the help of its aviation sector.
He added: "Great Britain is an island. Aviation connects it to the global community and global economy.
"Government policies must recognise and nurture that important role."
Iata confirmed its support for the prospect of further development at London Heathrow, describing the airport as a "vital component" of the British economy.
The hub is operating at 99% of capacity and wants permission from the government to build a third runway.
