Stansted calls for improved rail links by Cheap Flights Booker UK

London Stansted is campaigning for enhanced rail links to the airport in order to improve passenger access and help the base attract more airlines and routes.

The Stansted in 30 initiative urges the rail industry and the government to invest in reducing journey times from the airport to central London to 30 minutes.

Currently, the Stansted Express train service takes 45 minutes to cover the 35 miles between the base and Liverpool Street station.

Launching the new campaign, Nick Barton, managing director of the airport, said businesses, passengers and airlines have all stressed the importance of fast, reliable and high-quality rail links.

"Whilst we have the newest trains serving any UK airport, we know there is still plenty more to do when it comes to improving speed and reliability," he added.

Currently, nearly half (49%) of Stansted"s passengers use public transport to get to and from the site, which is reportedly the highest proportion of any major UK airport.
