Brits Heading To Greece In High Numbers
Brits "heading to Greece in high numbers" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Rather than discouraging people from visiting, Greece"s economic problems have led to a substantial increase in demand for holidays in the country among British consumers, according to research by Travelex.
The foreign exchange firm released a survey showing that some travellers have deliberately booked trips to Greek destinations in response to the strengthening of the pound against the euro.
A fifth (20%) of respondents said they had no worries about the country"s possible exit from the eurozone and most said they were only mildly concerned.
Nearly half (47%) insisted they would not change their travel plans, regardless of what happens in Greece.
Travelex UK regional manager Elvin Eldic said the recent boost in the value of sterling means UK travellers can get over €1.20 for £1 for the first time since November 2008.
"That"s an extra €52 for every £500 exchanged for British holidaymakers heading to the continent," he added.
Bookings for all-inclusive holidays in Greece have risen by a third in the last two weeks, travel agents have reported.
