International Climbathon returning to Malaysia by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Flights to Malaysia could prove a popular option among extreme sports enthusiasts this autumn, with the International Climbathon due to return to the Asian nation in October.
Set to celebrate its 26th outing in 2012, the event will take place on Mount Kinabalu on 13 and 14 October.
Hundreds of mountaineers will head to the site - one of the highest peaks in south-east Asia - to take on a challenge often called the world"s toughest mountain race, according to Tourism Malaysia.
During the endurance event, participants cover a total distance of 23km and ascend to an altitude of over 2,760 metres.
Enjoying some of the country"s most spectacular views is one of the rewards of the contest, with the route starting off in the Unesco World Heritage site of Kinabalu Park and passing through the Mesilau nature resort before finishing in the traditional village of Kundasang.
Highlighting other experiences on offer to adventure seekers, Tourism Malaysia recommended embarking on a five-hour climb through caves and rock cliffs to the summit of Mount Ledang.
