Olympics Will Benefit Tourism Beyond London
Olympics "will benefit tourism beyond London" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
London may be at the centre of the 2012 Olympic Games, but the whole of the United Kingdom is set to benefit from the event in tourism terms, according to the National Trust.
Joe Lloyd, enterprise manager of the charity"s Scotney Castle property, predicted that Britain will welcome more foreign visitors but will also see an increase in locals discovering some of the attractions on offer in their home country.
The Games will generate a positive atmosphere that will benefit the National Trust and increase awareness of its varied sites, according to Mr Lloyd.
"We have some of the world"s most amazing places - a lot of the coastline is National Trust, so it"s not just about going to a house and garden," he said. "It"s all about getting outdoors and embracing [that]."
The charity, which is responsible for maintaining several historic locations across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, has recently increased its focus on sustainable tourism with initiatives including the installation of biomass boilers at some attractions.
Wakehurst Place in West Sussex, Stourhead in Wiltshire and the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge in Country Antrim, Northern Ireland, are among the most popular National Trust sites.
