Soaring Pound Boosts Spending Power For UK Travellers
Soaring pound "boosts spending power for UK travellers" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Recent growth in the value of sterling, which has reached its strongest level against the euro since 2008, is set to boost spending power for Brits heading overseas this year, according to Post Office Travel Money.
The company said people visiting eurozone destinations will have the equivalent of £47.41 more in their pockets for every £500 they exchange.
However, the same amount would provide over twice as much extra holiday money in Brazil following a recent slump in the value of the real against the pound.
UK travellers planning long-haul breaks this year will also get more for their money in Mexico.
Eastern European currencies have become more affordable for Britons as well, leading the Post Office to recommend Budapest, Riga, Prague and Warsaw for bargain city breaks.
Andrew Brown, head of Post Office Travel Money, said there are very few places where the pound is not "packing a stronger punch" this year.
He added: "Our advice is for people to keep a close eye on exchange rates for all the destinations they are considering so they can judge where they will get the best return on their money."
