Study Shows Emergence Of Country Hopping Global Citizens
Study shows emergence of country-hopping "global citizens" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
New research by Lloyds TSB International has indicated that a new breed of internationally mobile "global citizens" is emerging.
The company conducted a survey of more than 1,000 affluent people in the UK and found that a fifth spent at least a month outside Britain in the past year.
More than one in ten (12%) Brits - equating to about 340,000 people nationally - spent more than a month overseas in a single trip in the last 12 months, 2% of whom were travelling for business purposes.
Lloyds TSB International Wealth director Nicholas Boys Smith said the past decade has seen an increase in the number of people who are spending significant periods of time abroad for both business and pleasure.
He also stressed that this trend is not only relevant to the "super-rich".
"Ten years ago people spoke about the "haves", the "have-nots" and the "have-yachts"," said Mr Boys Smith.
"Now I think we"re increasingly seeing that you don"t have to be a billionaire to be detaching from your country of origin."
The main reason for leisure travellers spending more time abroad is a rise in the number of people who can afford foreign holidays, according to the research.
