US travel industry enjoys record month in March by Cheap Flights Booker UK

March was a record month for the United States" travel industry, according to new figures.

The country"s commerce department released information on international trade showing that monthly travel exports reached an all-time high of $13.7bn (£8.5bn) during the month.

This figure surpasses the previous record of $13.4bn set in September 2011.

Commenting on the statistics, David Huether, senior vice president of economics and research at the US Travel Association, noted that the industry"s exports increased by 12.6% during the 12 months ending in March.

America"s overall goods exports in the same period rose by just 6.5%.

"The challenge now is to build on this recent success and begin to reclaim the share of global travel lost during the prior decade," added Mr Huether.
