WTM 2011 "provides Â150m Africa tourism boost" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Tourism in Africa is set to see a benefit worth more than £150m as a result of World Travel Market (WTM) 2011, according to independent research.
Fusion Communications carried out analysis of the event which found that the Africa region will receive £152m of contracts either through deals signed at the show or resulting from negotiations set to conclude before WTM 2012.
A number of new representatives from this part of the world attended the trade fair last year, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Regional Tourism Organisation of Southern Africa and the Savoy Sharm el Sheikh hotel.
Some regular exhibitors also returned, including tourism agencies representing South Africa and Mozambique.
Simon Press, WTM director for Reed Travel Exhibitions, described the amount of business that the 2011 event generated for African organisations as "phenomenal".
He added: "It confirms WTM"s role in recognising the importance of African tourism, while facilitating access to the global market for exhibiting businesses from the region."
This year"s outing of the travel trade show will begin at the ExCeL London on 5 November.
