Anti-APD campaign wins support of Taxpayers" Alliance by Cheap Flights Booker UK

The campaign against air passenger duty (APD) has gained strength with the confirmation of support from the Taxpayers" Alliance, a think-tank that fights for lower taxes.

Supporters of the organisation are being encouraged to take part in the Fair Tax on Flying initiative by sending an email to their MP expressing their opposition to the government"s recent increases in APD.

The website afairtaxonflying.org was set up to provide an email template for people wanting to participate and attracted more than 4,000 visitors in its first week.

Emma Boon, the Taxpayers" Alliance campaign director, described the flight tax as an "incredible burden on families taking a well-earned break" and also warned that it could affect jobs and the economy by sending business travellers and tourists to other countries.

"Air passenger duty should really be abolished, but the very least politicians can do is cut this tax to a fairer level," she added.

Similar taxes have already been done away with in countries such as Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands.
