Bristol Airport completes first phase of development by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Bristol Airport has completed the first phase of a major development plan that will ultimately enable the base to handle 10m passengers a year.
Secretary of state for transport Justine Greening visited the site to unveil three new aircraft stands that will play a key part in increasing capacity to allow more aircraft to operate from Bristol.
The new development is the first in a series of 30 separate projects planned for the next decade.
Other forthcoming improvements include an extension to the terminal building that will almost double its size, a new public transport interchange and an onsite hotel.
Ms Greening said regional airports like Bristol will play a "vital role" in Britain"s future growth and success by providing travel connections, jobs and infrastructure.
"The work I have seen at Bristol will stand the airport in good stead to serve the needs of regional passengers and businesses for many years to come," she added.
EasyJet, KLM and Air France are among the carriers based at the site, offering flights to Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Paris and other destinations.
