Caribbean Airlines Begins New Trinidad Service From Gatwick
Caribbean Airlines begins new Trinidad service from Gatwick by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The first Caribbean Airlines flight between Gatwick and Port of Spain in Trinidad left the airport on Friday.
Connecting the London hub with the Caribbean island"s Piarco International Airport, the non-stop service is set to operate twice weekly.
"We are delighted to welcome Caribbean Airlines and its passengers to our airport," said Guy Stephenson, chief commercial officer at Gatwick, before the inaugural flight took off.
He added that the new route will "not only be welcomed by business travellers with links to the economic hub of Trinidad but also with holidaymakers wanting to soak up the Caribbean sun".
According to Gatwick, a number of airlines have recently chosen the airport as a base thanks to its policy of investing £20 million a month in improving facilities.
Carriers such as Air China, Korean Air, Hong Kong Airlines and Air Nigeria have all started to operate flights from Gatwick this year.
It was recently announced that nearly three million passengers used Gatwick in May, up 2% on the corresponding month in 2011.
