Flybe Set For Major Growth Following Finnair Deal
Flybe set for major growth following Finnair deal by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Flybe has announced a deal with Finnair that the British airline claims will double the size of its operations in Finland.
The carrier has signed a memorandum of understanding to fly 12 Embraer E190 jets on behalf of Finnair, creating one of the largest regional airlines in the Nordic and Baltic states.
From 28 October 2012, Flybe Finland"s fleet will number 28 aircraft, 70% of which will be used for contract flying operations.
Mike Rutter, the airline"s managing director for Europe, described the deal as a "major milestone" that will help to realise the company"s goal of becoming the largest regional operator both in terms of fleet size and staff numbers.
"It also further demonstrates our commitment to Finland, allowing us to reinforce our brand in the regions we serve," he added.
Since beginning a partnership with Finnair ten months ago, Flybe Finland has expanded its operations to Denmark, Estonia, Norway and Sweden, establishing a strong presence at airports such as Bromma in Stockholm.
